As a fun (yet also completely terrifying because this is vulnerable as HECK) experiment, I’m sharing the evolution of the lyrics to my original songs.  You can check out performances of them under the "Just Keeping Singing" tab. This is a continually updating blog post.

Feelin’ Fine

Lyrics Completed October 26th, 2017

Verse 1

I couldn’t figure out the problem.

Never knew just how to solve ‘em.

But then I realized that you and I were toxic from the start.

You’ve been playing me for too long.

It’s not a mystery I want you gone.

There’s the door, don’t come back no more, just leave me be.

Pre-Chorus

I figured out, you gotta learn to love yourself

Before you love someone else.

Chorus

Now I’m feelin’ fine,

Like the world is mine.

You can’t take away my shine,

‘Cause I’m feelin’ fine.

(repeat)

Verse 2

So you knew that I was into you

And you made me think that you were too

But then you admitted to leading me on.

My friends all said “he’s not the one for you”

And I said “no that can’t be true.”

Little did I know...

Pre-Chorus

I figured out, you gotta learn to love yourself

Before you can love someone else.

Chorus

Now I’m feelin’ fine

Like the world is mine.

You can’t take away my shine,

‘Cause I’m feelin’ fine.

(repeat)

Bridge

Walk away,

I am long gone.

If you’re missin’ me

You gotta start movin’ on.

(repeat)

Chorus x2

'Cause I’m feelin’ fine

Like the world is mine.

You can’t take away my shine,

‘Cause I’m feelin’ fine.

(repeat)

Something Wrong

Lyrics Completed December 2nd, 2017

Verse 1

I’ve always been a good girl who could do no wrong.

Miss Straight As goody two shoes, that role's where I belong.

But lately I’ve had the urge to break this mold.

My brains saying what are you doin' cause my heart wants to let go.

PreChorus

I hadn’t seen you in a while,

But now I’m caught up in your smile.

Chorus

Can’t you see that I don’t know what to do.

I’m a good girl, but I’m breaking all my rules for you....

Should I really see this through?

You’ve been off limits for so long

Maybe it’s time to do something wrong.

Verse 2

I think the last time we spoke was five years ago.

We were just kids in high school, trying to go with the flow.

Holding hands in the hall, kissing on the sly.

But then you broke my heart, leaving me to cry.

PreChorus

I hadn’t seen you in a while

But now I’m caught up in your smile.

Chorus

Can’t you see that I don’t know what to do.

I’m a good girl, but I’m breaking all my rules for you....

Should I really see this through?

You’ve been off limits for so long

Maybe it’s time to do something wrong.

Bridge

I won’t lie, I think about you sometimes.

Your charm, your wit, the way you played your guitar.

I knew I was in trouble when I spotted you across the bar.

Chorus

Can’t you see that I don’t know what to do.

I’m a good girl, but I’m breaking all my rules for you....

Should I really see this through?

You’ve been off limits for so long

Maybe it’s time to do something wrong.
